Preventing Social Engineering attacks

Social Engineering

There are several ways to prevent social engineering attacks:

  1. Educate yourself and your employees about social engineering tactics: Knowing how attackers may try to manipulate you or your employees can help you recognize and resist these attempts.
  2. Develop a healthy skepticism: Be wary of unsolicited requests for sensitive information, even if they come from seemingly trustworthy sources.
  3. Verify the identity of the person making the request: If you receive a request for sensitive information, make sure you know who you are dealing with before you provide any information.
  4. Use strong passwords and don’t reuse them: Use unique, hard-to-guess passwords for each of your accounts, and consider using a password manager to generate and store your passwords securely.
  5. Protect your personal information: Be careful about what personal information you share online, and be sure to use privacy settings on social media accounts to control who can see your information.
  6. Be careful when clicking on links: Don’t click on links in emails or on social media unless you are sure they are legitimate.
  7. Enable two-factor authentication: Using two-factor authentication can add an extra layer of protection to your accounts by requiring a second form of authentication, such as a code sent to your phone, in addition to your password.
